You nailed it Michael. Newsom placing his own political future before the needs of his constituents is nothing new. He did with gay marriage when he was mayor of SF and he’s doing it now. He dares not cross the ACLU, Nurses Union, Teachers Union, SEIU, or the radical environmentalists whose policies have lead to much of the wildfires we see in CA and the lack of water and energy resources.

The national mood would be against a POTUS declaring himself or herself a dictator... but if the person was supported by Big Tech and the MSM and claimed that they were saving the nation from "domestic terrorists" (aka Republicans), it might not lead to a revolt. Remember, a sitting POTUS has a home-court advantage when launching a coup... the ability to deny that it is a coup, or that it is necessary for the nation and so doesn't count as a coup. There are too many Republicans ready to use that latter excuse to launch their own coup. I do not expect a declaration of absolute power to be vetted by the courts... but I fear that they and the Armed Forces might fail to act against it, or, worse, support the illicit regime against citizens. After the deliberate refusal to investigate election fraud organized by CJUSA Roberts... widely claimed to have been done over the phone warning of the riots that would take place if such claims were even heard... there is every reason to believe that he would refuse to halt such a coup... in other words, that he is every bit as much a potential traitor as the Biden (or Obiden) Regime's leaders.

The California Supreme Court should have followed up its 9-0 sustaining vote on a writ of mandate to force Newsom to obey state marriage law with a jail sentence for contempt of court. They had the power to do that... and to label the man a dangerous threat to the state and the country. In a sane state, he would have faced administrative action to remove him from office and permanently disqualify him from running for or holding office in California... his rebellion struck at the heart of the rule of law, which is exactly what he meant to do.

I am convinced that whichever lawless progressive gets to be President first... Harris, Newsom or someone else... will assume dictatorial powers a la Hugo Chavez or Nicolas Maduro. At that point, he or she could be arrested for treason, tried by a military court and executed. Being a domestic enemy of the Constitution is something that transcends elected office... and our armed forces service oath requires them to protect the Constitution "from enemies both foreign and domestic". It would be their duty to arrest a treasonous President who tried to tear up the Constitution instead of waiting for a possible impeachment and trial. Removing a dictator is too important to be left to political vagaries.
